BRICS Delegates Explore Bhimbetka’s Prehistoric Rock Art Amid Rain In MP

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh - Delegates from the BRICS Culture and Ministerial Groups ventured to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bhimbetka Rock Shelters on Sunday, despite the rain. Representing the BRICS nations, including South Africa, Indonesia, Russia, and China, over 15 delegates immersed themselves in the millennia-old human civilization, prehistoric rock art, and the site's rich natural-cultural heritage.

The BRICS delegates, under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Archaeologist Shivakant Bajpai and his team, explored the rock shelters.

The delegates gained insight into the prehistoric human lifestyle, social activities, and their profound connection with nature and wildlife, as depicted in the ancient paintings. Particularly, the wildlife representations, such as elephants, Indian bison, deer, monkeys, and boars, underscored the integral role of the natural world in ancient human life and artistic expression.
