Brazilian player falls down tunnel during goal celebration

A Brazilian footballer, Jacy Maranhao, found himself in an unusual predicament after scoring a goal for his team Coritiba. The 29-year-old defender, who had scored for his side 1-0 during a match against Chapecoense, celebrated his goal by vaulting over advertising boards. However, in his excitement, Maranhao fell down a tunnel that led to the away team's dressing room.

The tunnel, which normally serves as a passage between the two teams' dressing rooms, led Maranhao to the wrong side of the field. Despite his injury, he was able to gingerly make his way out of the tunnel. However, the goal he scored was later disallowed by VAR, leaving him and his team disappointed.

Maranhao was substituted shortly after halftime due to his ankle injury. In an interview, he said that he twisted his foot while celebrating, adding that it was a bit sore but he was fine. He also mentioned that scoring goals rarely happens for center-backs, and when it does, one tends to get carried away.

This incident is not the first of its kind at the Couto Pereira Stadium in Curitiba. In 2014, Cameroon striker Joel also jumped over the barriers during a Coritiba match against Sao Paulo and fell down the same tunnel.
