Borno abduction: 87 days without our children tortuous – Parents

Eighty-seven days have passed since terrorists abducted pupils from Mussa Primary and Junior Secondary School in Borno State, and their families continue to suffer. The raid took place on May 15, 2026, at around 9:00 a.m., leaving a community in distress. The abducted children, including toddlers, were taken captive, and families have received no updates on their children's whereabouts or condition.

Parents expressed their despair, stating that they have not received official information from the state or federal authorities. Mr. Sale Buba, a parent, lamented the psychological toll, saying, "Nearly three months now, the psychological toll of uncertainty we endure is still hunting us. We live in constant fear and uncertainty."

Josphin Yohanna, another mother, described the situation as a calamity, saying, "Many families were left anxious, no government visit, no update, or visible efforts to rescue our children." Ishaya Suya, chairman of the parents of the abducted children, questioned the government's response, asking, "For how long should we continue waiting without any update?"

The parents also noted that no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction. The Borno State Network of Civil Society Organisations condemned the government's silence, calling for immediate and transparent explanations regarding the children's safety.
