BN-PN akan runding PRN Melaka tanpa Bersatu, kata Takiyuddin

Perikatan Nasional (PN) is planning to hold preliminary discussions with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming PRN Melaka, excluding Bersatu, according to PN's Deputy President Takiyuddin Hassan. The talks are yet to commence, but they intend to start them soon, as per a news outlet after the PAS National Congress Committee meeting-72 in Kota Bharu last night.

The discussions might differ from Negeri Sembilan due to the varying constituencies and polling stations, such as the absence of polling stations in Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) but the presence in Melaka. They will consider these factors during their conversation. The issue of whether to retain 20 or 21 seats, including the Dewan Rakyat seat that the Bersatu representative has joined PAS, will be a topic of discussion.

Yesterday, PAS President Hadi Awang reportedly claimed that Bersatu automatically left PN after announcing the formation of a new coalition, but PN Chairman Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar later clarified that it remains a constituent coalition. When asked about the Pakatan Harapan (PH) reportedly having informal discussions with BN in Melaka, Takiyuddin stated that he has no information on this matter yet.

He also added that he does not know if it is true or not, and it needs to be clarified by Umno. If Umno confirms it, they will think about it later; it might be just a political gimmick. Yesterday, PH's Communication Secretary Fahmi Fadzil reportedly said that the alliance has had several discussions with BN regarding the possibility of cooperation for PRN Melaka.

PKR Melaka Chief Adam Adli Abd Halim had directly contacted BN's state chairman Ab Rauf Yusoh to discuss constituency allocation for PRN. Takiyuddin informed that Bersatu has the right to make any claim to the Corporate Business Registration Department (JPPM), and PN will clarify if called upon. PAS is a member of PN and will definitely leverage PN for coalition members, as per the statement from Bersatu's Chief Communicator, Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, who alleged that PAS uses PN at will for its political benefit, including unilateral denial of member rights and allegedly violating PN's Constitution.
