BECE results: No one can manipulate our system to target private schools – WAEC [Audio]

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has refuted allegations that they deliberately targeted private schools in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results. John Kapi, WAEC's Head of Public Affairs, stated on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show that the Council had conducted an internal review of the BECE results and found no evidence to support the claims made by some private schools.

Kapi explained that WAEC follows strict protocols to protect examination scripts and prevent unauthorized access by examiners and officials. He emphasized that the organization has taken measures to ensure the integrity of its systems and processes. Earlier, WAEC addressed the concerns during a press conference where they dismissed the allegations as unfounded.

Despite the rejection of the allegations, Kapi affirmed that WAEC is open to investigating any credible concerns backed by evidence. He assured that if valid issues are presented, the Council will take appropriate action. These comments were made amid ongoing concerns from private schools and parents regarding the 2026 BECE results, with some alleging unfair treatment of private schools and their candidates.

WAEC maintains that its examination rules and procedures are followed strictly, and they invite anyone making such claims to provide concrete proof to substantiate their allegations.
