APSPDCL connects 50,000 services to grid with rooftop solar initiative

The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has successfully connected 50,000 households to the grid through a rooftop solar initiative, marking a significant milestone. This achievement makes APSPDCL the first electricity distribution company among the three in the state to reach this impressive figure. The initiative is part of APSPDCL's commitment to promoting non-conventional energy resources in the region.

Andhra Pradesh has secured the fourth position nationally in the installation of rooftop solar systems. In line with its efforts to make solar power accessible to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) families, APSPDCL has accelerated the work to install solar systems on 2.07 lakh houses spread across nine districts. The company has a total capacity of 415 MW of solar power installed across these households, with 203.95 MW already operational and the remaining installations scheduled to be completed by the end of the month.

According to Siva Sankar Lotheti, CMD of APSPDCL, "We have installed a capacity of 203.95 MW of solar systems for 1.01 lakh households so far. Our focus is to ensure that by the end of this month, we will have successfully connected the remaining households to the grid, further expanding our contribution to renewable energy in the state."
