Anwar undergoes successful laparoscopic surgery for abdominal hernia

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim successfully underwent laparoscopic surgery on August 10, 2026 to address an abdominal hernia. Chief Medical Team member Datuk Dr Asri Ranga Abdullah Ramaiah confirmed that the procedure, which involved treating a para-umbilical hernia, was carried out by a team of medical specialists and was deemed successful.

Following the surgery, Anwar is currently undergoing physiotherapy and remains under the watchful eye of the medical specialist team to ensure his recovery proceeds smoothly. Senior Press Secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah informed the public that Anwar was undergoing necessary medical examinations and treatments prescribed by his medical team, and he is expected to continue under medical observation for the next two days.

The Prime Minister's team expressed hope that all matters related to his medical examination and procedures will be resolved swiftly, and that he will regain full health soon, allowing him to resume his duties as usual.
