Amit Shah will speak on Delhi protest crackdown, but Centre has a condition

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has agreed to address the Opposition's allegations of excessive force used against protesters during a July 20 march to Parliament, amid a deadlock in Parliament. Kiren Rijiju, the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister, confirmed the government's willingness to discuss the incident involving security personnel during the march, which aimed to demand the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who had since resigned.

Rijiju stated the government is prepared for a comprehensive discussion on the student movement, urging the Opposition to refrain from disrupting proceedings and to listen to the Home Minister's response. With only four days left in the Monsoon Session, key legislation on women's reservation, delimitation, and the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) remains unresolved.

The government has been engaging with Opposition parties like the DMK to secure support for the women's quota and delimitation Bills, while the FCRA Amendment Bill is set to be discussed. Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government for failing to address concerns over the alleged excesses and the theft of donations to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, demanding a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the violence.
