AmBank Group mourns the passing of Azlan Hashim

AmBank Group has announced its sorrow upon learning of the death of Azlan Hashim, the 85-year-old former leader whose work played a pivotal role in the group's history. In a message on Instagram, AmBank expressed its deep regret that Azlan, who had been associated with the group since July 5, 1982 when he joined the board of Arab Malaysian Development Bank Bhd, now AmInvestment Bank Bhd, had passed away.

Throughout his three-decade-long career with the group, Azlan held several prominent leadership roles across subsidiaries and affiliated entities. He served as chairman of AmSecurities Sdn Bhd from October 10, 1986 to March 3, 2007 and as deputy chairman of AMMB Holdings Bhd until his retirement on August 20, 2015. Additionally, he held director positions at Arab Malaysian Eagle Assurance Bhd, now AmMetLife Insurance Bhd, from March 1, 1985 to March 28, 2006, and at AmBank Islamic from August 1, 1994 to December 19, 2003. He also served as a director at AmREIT Managers Sdn Bhd from August 24, 2008 to August 12, 2015.

Azlan was also a member of the board of trustees of AmGroup Foundation since its establishment on December 18, 1985. In a statement, AmBank praised his steadfast service, wise leadership, and substantial contributions to the group's governance, growth, and development. The bank expressed its deepest condolences to Azlan's family and loved ones, praying for Allah SWT to forgive his faults, shower him with mercy, and grant him a place among the righteous in Jannah.
