Afenyo-Markin denies calling Nana Yaa Jantuah ‘nobody’, accuses NDC of twisting his comments

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has rejected allegations that he called presidential aide Nana Yaa Jantuah "a nobody" during the NPP's petition presentation at the Jubilee House. Mr Afenyo-Markin insisted his comments were not aimed at questioning Ms Jantuah's qualifications or dignity, but rather at the decision to have her alone receive the NPP's petition.

This followed a complaint by Ms Jantuah, who expressed deep disappointment over what she perceived as a disrespectful remark made by the Minority Leader in the presence of media and political figures. On Asempa FM's Ekosiisen, Ms Jantuah stated she was shocked by Mr Afenyo-Markin's use of the term "nobody" during the public event.

"I'm so mortified that you could stand there and look in the face of a woman and tell that woman she is nobody. I just cannot comprehend what happened," she added. Accusing the NDC of twisting his words, Mr Afenyo-Markin maintained that he never suggested Ms Jantuah was unqualified to receive the petition. "My friends in the NDC, they can do their mischief and get people to believe in their mischief," he stated, suggesting that political actors were exploiting the controversy to divert attention from the NPP's demonstration.
