Adeleke campaign alleges plot to end Osun voting by noon

The Imole Campaign Council, representing Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State, has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of attempting to manipulate the electoral process. In a statement, the council alleged that the APC sought to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to halt voting proceedings by noon in specific local government areas.

These areas are considered strongholds for Adeleke's political party. The council argued that such interference aimed to suppress votes and disenfranchise eligible voters. They emphasized that voters in Osun State have a constitutional right to cast their ballots freely and without obstruction. The council called on INEC to resist any political influence and maintain the integrity of the voting process, ensuring that polling units remain open until the stipulated voting period concludes.

They also accused the APC of previously trying to exclude Adeleke and his party from the election through legal challenges, while accusing the party of employing arrests, intimidation, and harassment of opposition members by the police. The council urged INEC to apply electoral rules uniformly across the state, without any bias or political interference.

They further urged civil society organizations, election observers, international bodies, and the media to closely monitor the election, acting as guardians against any attempts to manipulate state institutions.
