A former Thai lawmaker arrested after a shooting at a government office kills 1

A man was arrested after a shooting incident Monday that resulted in one death and one injury outside Bangkok, Thailand. The suspect, identified as Chalong Riewraeng, a former lawmaker, is under arrest, while the victim, Thongchai Yenprasert, suffered critical injuries and died at a hospital. Thongchai was the target of the shooting, believed to have been carried out by Chalong over a personal dispute involving money.

According to police, Chalong admitted to the shooting, stating he intended to apologize to Thongchai, but the situation escalated when Thongchai's driver also drew his weapon. The incident occurred at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, just days after a tragic shooting at a school in the same province that killed eight people, including a 12-year-old student and five school staff members.
