A Cop’s Useless Threats…Jantuah’s Lies

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) demonstrated without any breaches of peace or public order. However, the same cannot be said about a Chief Superintendent of Police, Atuluk, and Nana Yaa Jantuah, a presidential staffer. Atuluk displayed a threatening posture during the demonstration, while Jantuah used the event to spread a false narrative.

The senior police officer made threatening remarks, including a reference to 'the cockroach party in India', suggesting he may have been prepared to use teargas against the demonstrators. The deployed police officers behaved well during the demonstration, as the demonstrators were disciplined and orderly. However, Atuluk's behavior was unprofessional and disappointing, as he set a poor example for others in the force.

The Police College did not adequately prepare him for his role. Jantuah also attempted to exploit gender politics by claiming to have been disrespected by a Minority Leader, but her accusation was unfounded, as she was not the appropriate recipient of the petition due to her role as a presidential staffer. The situation highlights the need for professionalism and ethical conduct among public officials in Ghana, as the country's future depends on the protection and preservation of democracy.
