A Korean overseas fisheries worker who had been buried in Senegal for 37 years has been repatriated. The remains of the worker, whose name was not released, arrived at Incheon International Airport on the 11th on a flight from Dakar, Senegal. The repatriation was made possible through the efforts of the government and the Korean overseas fisheries workers' union. The worker died in 1985 while working on a deep-sea fishing boat off the coast of Senegal. At the time, the body was buried in a local cemetery in Dakar due to regulations in the country where the worker was stationed. The government and the union have been working to repatriate the remains of Korean workers buried overseas since 2018. The worker's remains were transported to Seoul on the 12th and will be laid to rest at the Daejeon National Cemetery.
