3 suspects including a police officer linked to murder of Dr Mutiso detained for 30 days pending probe

Three individuals, including a police officer, have been detained for 30 days pending investigation into the murder of clinical psychologist Dr Victoria Mutiso. Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi, driver Daniel Njoroge and motorbike rider Kevin Kinuthia are accused of playing specific roles in the killing that occurred on July 29 in the Upper Hill area.

The High Court allowed the detention, citing concerns over the safety of the suspects if released. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) stated that Kimoi fired the fatal shot, while Njoroge was driving the black Toyota Prado that blocked Dr Mutiso's Uber vehicle. Kinuthia allegedly used his motorbike to transport Kimoi to and from the scene.

The suspects were arrested on August 7 during an intelligence-led operation. The DCI identified a land dispute over land registration number 1504/13 as a potential motive for the murder. Dr Mutiso's husband is a crucial witness, but his testimony is hindered by the traumatic nature of the case. Additional investigations are ongoing, including the forensic analysis of recovered weapons and evidence from the crime scene.
