WHO chief says warehouse hit in Ukraine

The World Health Organization has reported that a warehouse in Dnipro, Ukraine, storing medical supplies was destroyed by a Russian attack on February 28, 2024. Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus informed this on X, stating that no casualties were reported at the time. The WHO staff and drivers had evacuated 130 out of the 300 pallets before the attack.

The warehouse held humanitarian medical supplies for frontline health facilities. Since the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, the WHO has recorded 3,148 attacks on healthcare facilities in Ukraine, with the majority involving heavy weapons. Of these, 2,567 attacks affected facilities, 71 impacted warehouses, and 645 attacks targeted supplies.

These attacks have resulted in 240 deaths and 1,055 injuries. Ghebreyesus emphasized that attacks on healthcare must cease, as wars have rules protecting health.
