'We actually like each other', says Abdul El-Sayed after Trump posts about his wife

Progressive Democrat Abdul El-Sayed, campaigning for a Senate seat, responded to President Donald Trump's social media post criticizing El-Sayed and his wife. Trump had harshly attacked El-Sayed since his victory in the Michigan primary, advancing to the November general election. The latest post from Trump, on his Truth Social platform, has been deemed Islamophobic and racist by many.

In a CNN interview, El-Sayed did not shy away from the stark contrast in their visions of America. "Two very different Americas," El-Sayed declared, referring to a Trump and Melania post alongside a photo of El-Sayed and his wife, Dr Sarah Jukaku, a hijab-wearing physician. "One where your overlords are two people who don't like each other, but joined in the interest of making billions off of you, or two people who genuinely love each other," El-Sayed elaborated.

"Sara and I actually like each other," El-Sayed added, "I don't know about the first lady and the President, but from what I've heard, it's a bit of a rocky road." El-Sayed's wife, a psychiatrist in Michigan, supports his campaign. After securing the Democratic primary, El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers in the November midterms, becoming the first Muslim senator if he wins. This potential Senate seat could significantly weaken Trump's agenda.
