Thai school shooting: Students, teachers mourn 12-year-old victim

BANGKOK - Dozens of bereaved students, parents, and teachers gathered at a Buddhist temple on Sunday to pay their respects to a 12-year-old girl, one of eight victims of a shooting that occurred at her school and home in Thailand two days prior. The 14-year-old perpetrator used his grandfather's handgun to kill his grandparents before attacking his school, where he also took his own life.

Authorities are still searching for the motive behind the shooting, but they have discovered that the boy had watched violent videos online and had once brought a BB gun to school. He faced academic stress and was reportedly bullied by a classmate. The slain schoolgirl, Naphat Chaima, died in the hospital after suffering gunshot wounds at the school, while five teachers and school staff were killed on Friday.

Mourners dressed in black poured water over the deceased's hand, lit incense sticks, and prayed for her soul. She was described as a good and active child who loved various activities, including dancing. Several psychologists were available to support the grieving children. Another parent expressed her desire for the school to enhance security measures, questioning how the teenager managed to bring a gun into the school despite previous confiscations. Investigators are examining the boy's computer and phone to uncover the motive behind the attack.
