‘Stones, shoes thrown at my car’: Mamata faces protest at TMC worker’s home

Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on Sunday that protesters hurled stones and footwear at her car as she visited the family of late Trinamool Congress worker Birju Keot. The attack, which occurred in front of police, was so severe that Mamata feared for her life. She accused the police of protecting the BJP and expressed disbelief at the situation.

Mamata Banerjee was accompanied by Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen, who also voiced their anger against the current administration. They accused Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari of running the government through police and mafia connections, causing the police to surround Mamata's car as it passed through Bijpur in North 24 Parganas district.

The incident came to light following the recent allegation by Birju Keot's widow, Jenny Sharma Keot, that her husband died in police custody after being beaten up.
