Sinner withdraws from Cincinnati Open with knee injury

World number one tennis player Jannik Sinner has withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open due to a right knee injury, the Italian announced on Sunday. Sinner, who had been on a six-tournament winning streak at 1000 level before the North American hard-court swing, had been working with his medical team to overcome the issue. However, he acknowledged that he is not yet ready to compete.

The five-time Grand Slam winner's withdrawal comes after world number two Carlos Alcaraz also pulled out due to a wrist injury. Both players had been set to participate in the warm-up events ahead of the US Open, which begins on August 30.
