Russian Strikes Target Kharkiv High-Rises, Odesa and Pavlohrad, Killing 2

Russian forces launched a series of drone, missile, and guided aerial bomb attacks across Ukraine on Sunday, August 9, specifically targeting residential areas in Kharkiv, Odesa, and the Dnipropetrovsk region. The attacks resulted in multiple casualties. In Kharkiv, the Saltivka district was hit directly, with a multi-story residential building destroyed, leaving residents trapped under the rubble.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that at least 12 people were injured, including a 5-year-old boy and an additional three fatalities. Eleven others suffered blast injuries, two were exposed to carbon monoxide, and eight experienced an acute stress reaction. Meanwhile, in Odesa, missiles prompted explosions across the city after Air Force warnings of incoming ballistic weapons.

At least eight people were injured in Odesa. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the city center of Pavlohrad was hit, causing a private house and a vehicle to catch fire. By Saturday evening, nine individuals were injured, including four children - a 3-month-old girl, a 3-year-old girl, and two boys aged 5 and 6. A 58-year-old woman was hospitalized in severe condition.

Another Russian airstrike occurred in Izium, Dnipropetrovsk region, where two guided aerial bombs (KABs) struck a non-functioning civilian facility, damaging four apartment buildings and over a dozen vehicles. Five to seven civilians were injured, including an 18-year-old man and an 87-year-old woman.
