Russia hits Ukrainian oil and gas facilities for third straight day

Russia has struck Ukrainian oil and gas facilities for a third day in a row, according to Naftogaz Group, a company that operates such facilities in Ukraine. The attacks targeted sites in eastern, western, and central Ukraine on August 9, as reported on the company's Telegram account. Specific targets included Ukrnafta production assets and a drilling site, which experienced extensive damage and forced part of the equipment to halt operations.

Naftogaz stated that employees at the affected sites were not injured due to safety precautions taken prior to the attack.

Seven Ukrnafta gas station complexes were also hit by Russian drones on August 7 and 8, with one employee sustaining injuries and being hospitalized. Additionally, on August 8, Russian forces employed jet-powered drones to strike Naftogaz production facilities in central Ukraine, causing serious damage while personnel took shelter.

Naftogaz CEO Serhii Fedorenko emphasized that the intensity of enemy attacks on oil and gas infrastructure had increased significantly in recent days, indicating that the enemy aimed to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian production and other critical infrastructure to disrupt preparations for the heating season. Fedorenko stressed the priority of protecting people's lives and continuing operations despite the challenging circumstances.
