Palmero gets fresh start in Malaysia after JDT move

KUALA LUMPUR: Gabriel Palmero, the 24-year-old left-sided player, has embarked on a new chapter in Malaysia with Johor Darul Ta zim (JDT). The transfer came as the Spanish-born athlete dealt with the aftermath of FIFA sanctions. Palmero's international career was suspended after FIFA found him guilty of breaching disciplinary rules due to documents used to establish his eligibility to represent Malaysia.

His club future in Spain was abruptly ended, leading to a 12-month ban. However, Palmero's situation took an interesting turn when the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) temporarily suspended the FIFA ban, allowing him to play for Kuching City in Malaysia. Despite the setback, Palmero remained in Malaysia and was spotted training with JDT.

Now, his move to JDT enables him to work within one of Asia's most ambitious club setups while his playing ban expires on September 26. It is worth noting that his domestic registration in Malaysia was separate from his FIFA eligibility, allowing him to continue his association with Malaysian club football.
