Osun Commissioner released on bail after Ilesa APC rally shooting

The Osun State Police Command has released the state Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Moyowa Adejoorin, on bail following a shooting incident at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ilesa. The incident took place on Saturday and resulted in four people being injured, including a teenager named Tobi Ilesanmi. Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed Adejoorin's arrest and subsequent release, stating that he was taken into custody after his vehicle was stopped at the scene.

Ojelabi revealed that an Amotekun operative, who was allegedly involved in the shooting, was also found at the location. The commissioner's vehicle contained evidence such as expended cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps. Ojelabi further noted that the commissioner was arrested for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.

The commissioner's release comes amid increased attention to the incident, following the circulation of a video on social media showing Adejoorin leaving the police command. Ojelabi confirmed the release, but mentioned that he was still awaiting clarification regarding the status of the Amotekun operative arrested alongside him. Police investigations into the shooting incident are still ongoing.
