On-duty cop martyred, another injured in Lakki Marwat attack

Lakki Marwat witnessed a tragic incident on Sunday when a constable was killed and another sustained gunshot injuries during an attack in the Saeedkhel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Lakki Marwat district. The assailants targeted the rider squad personnel while they were on patrol near the Saeedkhel graveyard, situated within the City Police Station limits.

Constable Sajidullah tragically lost his life, while Constable Muhammad Waqas suffered serious injuries. Both bodies were subsequently transported to the Government City Hospital. In response, a significant police force arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and initiated a search for the perpetrators. The ongoing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continue to see a surge in attacks on law enforcers, with security personnel casualties rising sharply.

According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies' July 31 security assessment, security personnel fatalities in terrorism incidents surged from 12 in June to 38 in July, marking a staggering 192% increase. Conversely, terrorist deaths rose by 192% from 37 to 108.
