NPC, Qatar Science Club, organizes 2nd Edition of Data Summer Camp 2026

The National Planning Council (NPC), in collaboration with the Qatar Scientific Club within the Ministry of Sports and Youth and Microsoft Qatar, has organized the second edition of the Data Summer Camp 2026 from August 8 to 12. Approximately 40 high school students, both male and female, participated in the camp, which aims to equip the next generation with essential skills in data and digital transformation.

This initiative aligns with Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030) objectives by fostering an educational experience that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical application over five days. The camp also seeks to raise awareness about the significance of data among high school students, introduce them to national and open data, as well as the national data program, and empower them to convert analytical results into practical ideas and initiatives addressing national challenges.

Additionally, the program focuses on enhancing participants' ability to employ digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) to support development and cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making.

The Director of the Statistical and Data Training Center at NPC, Hessa Ali Al Malki, emphasized that the organization of the camp underscores the NPC's commitment to cultivating a data culture among young people and nurturing national professionals capable of utilizing data for development and decision-making. She highlighted that the Data Summer Camp serves as one of the quality initiatives undertaken by NPC in partnership with its collaborators, driven by the belief that data has become a cornerstone in planning and public policy-making.

The program provides students with the chance to learn about the National Data Program, acquire data analysis skills, and create dashboards, enabling them to transform data into actionable insights and initiatives that align with national priorities and contribute to achieving QNV 2030.

Eng. Hessa Al Najjar, the supervisor of the Data Summer Camp program, stated that the hosting of the camp by the Qatar Scientific Club represents their efforts to develop the capabilities of young people in science, technology, and innovation, while providing interactive educational environments that adapt to rapid changes in the digital world.

She underscored the importance of the partnership with the NPC and Microsoft Qatar in preparing a future-ready generation equipped with the skills of the future. Microsoft Qatar contributes to the camp by offering hands-on experience with cutting-edge data analysis tools and AI technologies, thereby enhancing participants' proficiency in working with modern digital technologies and staying abreast of global advancements in data science.

The launch of the second edition of the Data Summer Camp further solidifies the partnership among the involved entities, solidifying their dedication to investing in young national talent, fostering a culture of innovation and digital transformation, and propelling Qatar towards a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
