New encyclopaedic publication documents terminology related to charitable work

Doha, Qatar witnessed the release of the ninth volume in the Contemporary Studies Series by the Waqf Studies Centre, a department linked to the General Administration of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs. The publication, titled "The Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Waqf and Charitable Work Terminology," was penned by Dr. Atiya Al-Weishi, an Associate Professor of Islamic History and Civilisation.

The dictionary is part of a broader initiative to bolster the waqf library with detailed scholarly works, offering a reference point for researchers, students, and professionals in the fields of waqf and charitable work. The creation of this dictionary stems from the need to standardise terminology and provide clarity within these sectors. The dictionary's aim is to improve research accuracy and foster a shared language among scholars, institutions, and specialists.

Support for the book's publication came from the Waqf Fund for Scientific and Cultural Development, an arm of the General Administration of Endowments. The funding allowed for the dictionary's printing, aligning with the wishes of charitable donors who desired beneficial books to be printed, alongside the Quran and Prophetic Sunnah.

The Waqf Studies Centre is dedicated to selecting significant works across various academic and Shariah-related fields, ensuring high-quality printing for the benefit of students, researchers, and the general public. The Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Waqf and Charitable Work Terminology is a specialised reference work where Dr. Al-Weishi has collected and alphabetically arranged terminology related to waqf and charitable work.

Dr. Khalid Al-Aoun, Head of the Waqf Studies Centre, highlighted that this dictionary is an extension of the centre's efforts to disseminate scholarly works that support waqf and charitable work.
