‘Muafaa’ initiative launched to treat cataract patients near holy sites

The Muafaa Eye Care Initiative was inaugurated in Makkah today, aiming to provide cataract treatment and surgeries for pilgrims and residents living near the Two Holy Mosques. This partnership between health and community organizations seeks to improve the quality of life of its beneficiaries and create a model that combines healthcare with humanitarian impact.

The initiative, launched at the Hajj and Umrah Association headquarters, coincides with World Ophthalmologists Day. It is a collaboration between the nonprofit, government, and private sectors, with the goal of reaching 1,000 beneficiaries.

At the launch event, the vision of the Muafaa initiative was presented, emphasizing its target of helping 1,000 people. The event also showcased the roles of participating organizations and the anticipated impact, highlighting the journey of beneficiaries and the value of collaboration.

Organizers stressed that Muafaa represents a model of integrated action, placing people at the center. They explained that contributions are transformed into measurable health outcomes and impactful stories, preserving beneficiaries' dignity. The initiative plans to reach its first 100 beneficiaries in the initial phase, with a long-term goal of 1,000.
