Morrissey Cancels Las Vegas Residency Shows Days Before Opening Night

Morrissey, the iconic frontman of the Smiths, has abruptly canceled his upcoming Las Vegas residency show at Wynn Las Vegas’ Encore Theater. The four-night performance, scheduled to commence on August 14th, was abruptly canceled due to "unforeseen logistical issues," as per an email sent to ticket holders on August 7th. This sudden cancellation leaves fans of the Manchester-born singer-songwriter disheartened, with no public statement issued by Morrissey as of press time.

The Wynn Las Vegas entertainment page swiftly removed the dates, while the Ticketmaster listings now convey an unfortunate cancellation message. Morrissey's official website, however, still displayed the cancelled shows at the time of reporting. The 67-year-old musician's last live performance occurred on August 1st, during a show at Super Bock Arena in Porto, Portugal.

Despite this cancellation, Morrissey still has a roster of scheduled live U.S. performances lined up through the fall, including appearances at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 19th and the CBGB Festival in Brooklyn on September 26th. Following these local gigs, he is set to embark on a tour of cities such as Washington D.C., Nashville, Houston, and eventually conclude his U.S. tour with a headlining set at the Darker Waves Festival in Huntington Beach, California, on November 14th. He then plans to venture across Europe for a series of closing shows before the year's end.

Morrissey has a history of canceling or rescheduling shows for a variety of reasons, a pattern that has persisted over the years. In 2025 alone, he had to cancel 25 performances and postpone 11. Earlier this year, Morrissey faced a medical issue, which prompted the cancellation of two California dates originally scheduled for 2025.

In March, he also called off a show in Valencia, Spain, due to sleep deprivation caused by a nearby loud festival that left him in a catatonic state. This cancellation was followed by the release of his fourteenth studio album, "Make-Up Is a Lie," in March.
