Miguel Cardoso reveals Saleng’s Sundowns exile after repeated breaches

Mamelodi Sundowns' head coach Miguel Cardoso has disclosed that Monnapule Saleng, the club's winger, is currently training separately from the senior team following a series of rule-breaking incidents. Saleng, who was absent during Sundowns' 3-2 extra-time victory over Polokwane City in their MTN8 quarter-final, has not played for the Masandawana side throughout the season.

Cardoso explained that Saleng's absence is due to repeated breaches of the club's rules and values, with the player not training with the team for some time. Despite being included in the squad for the second leg of Sundowns' CAF Champions League final, Saleng did not join the team and reportedly refused to attend the pre-season camp.

The coach acknowledged his efforts to support the player but stated that maintaining squad stability was a priority. This decision leaves Saleng's future at Sundowns uncertain, with the coach making it clear that the player is currently not part of the first-team plans. As Sundowns advance to the MTN8 semi-finals, the focus shifts to their pursuit of another trophy, while Saleng's next move remains unclear.
