Mea Culpa – Dark Hours

Last week, I initiated a project called Dark Hours, a website utility designed to provide an overview of what can be observed in the sky at night. A developer named Dave, who had created another web app called DarkHours.app, responded to my comment on Bluesky, pointing out the similarities between his project and mine, including the name. Upon realizing that the web application I launched using Claude was strikingly similar to Dave's open-source project, I immediately recognized the need to rectify the situation. I made the decision to redirect the domain directly to Dave and abandon any plans to launch an iOS app for Dark Hours. I take full responsibility for this irresponsible use of AI to build the project.

I had not been aware of DarkHours.app until yesterday. However, my careless reliance on AI to generate the project without thoroughly understanding its similarity to an existing project was unacceptable.

Taking this incident into consideration, I have vowed to cease using AI in the future to create any web applications. In the case of iOS software development, I will avoid using AI to the same extent. I now ask questions, debug issues, and perform other related tasks, but I will not create apps with Claude for iOS. I would like to express my gratitude to Dave for his wonderful open-source app.
