Malaysian tahfiz student killed, friend injured after motorcycle crashes into pole in Yala

Yala, Aug 9 — Malaysian citizens, both involved in a motorcycle accident, met tragic ends on Saturday afternoon in the Bannang Sareng area of Mueang Yala district. The 20-year-old pillion rider, hailing from Perlis, lost his life from severe head injuries sustained upon colliding with an electricity pole. Col Chatchai Sakdee, Mueang Yala Police Chief, confirmed the victim's demise at the scene.

The 22-year-old rider from Kuala Kedah, Kedah, suffered serious injuries and was currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Yala Central Hospital, remaining unconscious. The Malaysian Consulate in Songkhla, which has authenticated the victims' Malaysian citizenship, is awaiting notification from next of kin to initiate the necessary documentation.

Both victims were reportedly Quranic tahfiz students at Pondok Padang Pusu in Yarang District, Pattani, en route to their institution when the accident occurred.
