Local Dates Festival records sales of over 153 tonnes of fresh dates

Doha, Qatar witnessed the remarkable 11th Local Dates Festival at Souq Waqif, which has achieved impressive sales figures of over 153,000kg of fresh dates. The festival, held from July 25 to August 10, has drawn approximately 75,000 visitors, according to data released by the Ministry of Municipality.

During its run, the festival managed to sell a total of 153,303kg of fresh dates, featuring an extensive range of premium locally cultivated varieties. Among these, Shishi dates accounted for 30,691kg, while Khenaizi dates sold in significant quantities at 29,158kg. Barhi dates led with a sale of 17,513kg, and Khalas dates contributed 64,810kg to the total. Other varieties added up to 11,131kg.

The festival serves as a platform for visitors to delve into Qatar's agricultural heritage and procure locally grown fresh dates directly from the farmers who cultivated them. The 11th edition of the event welcomed 114 fresh date farms and 11 fruit farms, offering a diverse collection of locally produced agricultural goods.

Located in the Eastern Square of Souq Waqif, the festival will continue its operations until August 10. It operates from 4pm to 9pm from Sunday to Thursday and extends its hours to 4pm to 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
