Leicester City defender Thibaud joins Olympique de Marseille

Leicester City defender Julie Thibaud has transferred to French Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille on a permanent contract. The 28-year-old French international defender informed The Foxes of her decision through an official media update. After three seasons with Leicester City, she leaves the club where she made 72 appearances in all competitions.

Thibaud contributed to Leicester's back-to-back top flight points records in the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons but the club was relegated following the end of the 2024/2025 season. With Leicester City set to compete in the WSL2 division, Thibaud chose to remain at the highest level by joining Marseille. The Marseille side ended the 2025/2026 season at ninth place in the Arkema Première Ligue table.

Thibaud is the latest player to depart from the King Power Stadium this summer as several other Leicester City players moved on following the team's relegation. The Foxes have been actively rebuilding their squad in anticipation of a challenge for the Barclays WSL2 title in the upcoming season.
