Kasaragod Collectorate employee dies after reportedly consuming poison

A 41-year-old woman employed at the Kasaragod Collectorate, Ashalatha, died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Sunday, two days after reportedly consuming poison. Identified as a clerk with the Endosulfan Cell at the Collectorate, Ashalatha was from Athirakuzhi in Chengala. She sought medical assistance on Friday at Chengala Cooperative Hospital, after informing authorities of her poisoning.

Following initial treatment, she was transferred to a private hospital in Chengala and then to a private hospital in Kozhikode due to her critical condition. She passed away around noon on Sunday. Her husband, Ajayakumar, a Gulf worker, returned home on Saturday after learning of her hospitalization. Survived by children Yadukrishnan and Agnivesh, the Vidyanagar police are scheduled to arrive in Kozhikode on Monday for the inquest, with the body to be handed over post-mortem examination.
