Jharkhand govt holds 3rd round of talks with students

The Jharkhand government held its third round of discussions with protesting students on Sunday. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar spoke during the Jharkhand Tribal Festival in Ranchi, urging the students to trust the Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Gangwar expressed concern for the future of the students and emphasized the need for dialogue to resolve their issues. Soren, who attended the event, announced a platform called Samvad for students, citizens, and others to voice their recommendations for education reforms.

On the same day, a delegation of ministers, headed by state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, met with groups of protesting students for the third consecutive day. Sonu promised to address the concerns of the students by investigating irregularities related to the 14th JPSC and 2023-25 backlog recruitments, with the assistance of the CID and the ED. A fast-track court will be established, and charge sheets against the accused will be filed within 90 days.

Student leader Ravindra Paswan stated that while the government agreed to consider canceling the 14th JPSC exam, the JPSC backlog tests for 2023 and 2025, they would continue their protest until the demand for a CBI inquiry is met. All three members of the JPSC resigned on Sunday in light of the irregularities in recruitment tests. Governor Gangwar accepted their resignations, as reported by the Lok Bhavan.
