Four killed in helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro

A helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro claimed the lives of four people, including three Colombian tourists, according to the country's consul. The disaster occurred in Tijuca National Park, a densely forested area, with the wreckage of the aircraft found on a steep, challenging-to-access hillside. The victims were identified as three women and the pilot, who were among six people who had initially planned to fly together.

The birthday girl's grandmother, aunt, and cousin perished in the crash, with the 15th birthday girl initially planning to travel on a separate flight. The consulate in Rio provided assistance to Brazilian authorities in identifying the victims due to the poor condition of their bodies. The helicopter crash took place near Vista Chinesa, a Chinese pagoda replica offering panoramic views of Rio from the heart of the forest.

Following a previous helicopter disaster in June that resulted in six deaths, including American singer Oliver Tree and Argentine YouTuber Gaspar Prim, Rio de Janeiro's mayor has requested the National Civil Aviation Agency to intensify monitoring for helicopter safety.
