Flight cancellations, evacuations in China as Typhoon Dolphin looms

China's eastern coast is bracing for Typhoon Dolphin's arrival on Sunday, with over 1,000 flight cancellations and evacuations already reported. The storm has prompted a top-level alert from authorities, as it is expected to make landfall in Zhejiang or Fujian provinces either late Sunday or early Monday. Nearly 1,400 flights to and from Shanghai's two main passenger airports, Pudong and Puxi, have been grounded, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Hangzhou's airport in Zhejiang province alone saw 270 cancellations. Typhoon Dolphin, which recently caused heavy rain and strong winds in Japan's Okinawa, brought a man over 100 years old to minor injuries when he was blown onto the ground and hit his head. More than 5,000 households in Okinawa lost power by Sunday afternoon, with Okinawa Electric Power reporting the outage.

In Taiwan, ferry services were suspended and over 180 flights were cancelled as the storm dumped heavy downpours and gusty winds.
