The organization emphasized that any challenges to his leadership must adhere to FIFA's democratic protocols and statutes. Infantino's ambitious plan to raise approximately $4.2 billion by selling shares in the commercial rights of World Cup tournaments met with considerable resistance, particularly from UEFA, which threatened to boycott FIFA events unless the proposal was entirely abandoned.

Infantino's senior advisor, Carlos Cordeiro, resigned in protest, arguing that the organization was "mortgaging football's future without any compelling justification." This internal dissent prompted an emergency summit in Morocco, where FIFA's executives defended their support for the president. External critics, such as British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, also cast doubt on Infantino's suitability for the role.
