Farmers block National Highway in Balochistan's Naseerabad over closure of irrigation water

In Balochistan's Naseerabad district, farmers and landowners have blocked the National Highway in a protest against the closure of irrigation water. This action, which involved hundreds of participants led by Rais Nazim Khan Umrani, is being carried out in the name of restoring water supplies to agricultural areas. Former provincial minister Mir Sikandar Ali Khan Umrani has accused the authorities of shutting off irrigation water on political grounds, causing an "economic killing" of farmers and landowners.

He claims that the closure has left hundreds of thousands of acres of agricultural land barren, leading to losses of billions of rupees and severely damaging the agriculture sector. Umrani alleges that the residents, farmers, and landowners of the Table Branch and Manjhoti Branch areas are being subjected to injustice and economic exploitation as part of political victimization. He warns that the protest movement will expand if the water supply is not restored immediately.
