Ebonyi PDP Chieftain's Wife Alleges Assault, Miscarriage After Suspected Political Thugs Attacked Her Home

Blessing Ngwuta, a 40-year-old woman from Ebonyi State, has accused suspected political thugs of assaulting her and causing her to lose her four-month pregnancy after they invaded her home in Ezza South Local Government Area. The attack, which occurred on Thursday, involved the assailants armed with guns, machetes, swords, sticks, and stones.

According to Ngwuta, the attackers came while she was preparing food for political visitors and immediately targeted her, assaulting her and other women present. She alleges that one of the attackers discovered she was in the kitchen and singled her out for brutalization, hitting her so hard that she fell and injured her stomach.

Following the attack, Ngwuta began bleeding and was rushed to the hospital. Her husband, Christopher Ngwuta, a 73-year-old chieftain of the PDP, described the incident as politically motivated and emphasized that it would not deter his support for the party's 2027 gubernatorial candidate, Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii. Ngwuta expressed shock that some of his own children could allegedly participate in such an attack and questioned why politicians from other parties could campaign without facing similar violence.

This incident follows another attack on PDP members and journalists during a political event in the same area just a week prior. The PDP has accused the ruling APC of orchestrating a campaign of intimidation, while the APC has denied any involvement. As of now, the Ebonyi State Police Command has not announced any arrests or identified the perpetrators.
