Delhi tribunal awards ₹44 lakh to children of couple killed in UP road accident

A Delhi Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded ₹44.09 lakh in compensation, including interest, to the five children of a couple killed in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh in 2021. The incident occurred when a car allegedly rammed their motorcycle from behind in Bulandshahr district. The presiding officer directed IFFCO Tokio General Insurance Company to pay the total compensation.

The couple, Brijnandan and Rajkumari, were traveling on a motorcycle when the incident took place. The car, driven rashly and negligently, collided with their vehicle, causing them to be thrown onto the road. The impact was so severe that both were declared dead at a hospital. The witnesses and mechanical inspection report confirmed the version of the petitioners.

The driver, owner, and insurer contested the claim, but the tribunal ultimately held the driver responsible for the accident.
