De Rossi: ‘Transfer market open after Week 2 of season is an abomination’

Genoa coach Daniele De Rossi has expressed his disapproval of the transfer window being open until after the start of the Serie A season, calling it an "abomination". His sentiments are echoed by Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini, who complained about the issue following their recent 3-0 friendly defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Gasperini would prefer that the season's games begin only when teams are aware of the complete squad they will be fielding. De Rossi shared Gasperini's view, stating that the transfer deadline being set after the second match of the season is a "total red tape abomination". He questioned why coaches continue to complain about this issue year after year without any change.

The Genoa coach also mentioned that the current situation is not just a problem for Italy, but a devastating issue for the entire sport. In a recent pre-season friendly, Genoa lost 1-0 to Deportivo La Coruna, and De Rossi attributed this loss, as well as the absence of new signing Mario Mitaj, to the problematic transfer market situation.
