Central Region Rugby Association seeks to establish club at Ankaful Prison

The Central Region Rugby Association (CRRA) has initiated talks with the Ghana Prisons Service to establish a rugby club at Ankaful Maximum Security Prison. This move aims to utilize sports for the rehabilitation and growth of inmates. A CRRA delegation, headed by Chairman Clement Dennis and PR Officer Peter Caesar Kwegyir Aggrey, held discussions with the Ghana Prisons Service officials at the prison.

They presented a rugby ball to the officials, signifying their commitment to introducing rugby to the inmates. The club would offer inmates a chance to learn and play rugby, promoting discipline, teamwork, and talent identification. The CRRA's plans also include the establishment of a Central Region Security Services Rugby Championship, which could potentially expand to include security services from other nations.

During the meeting, Dennis emphasized rugby's potential to transform lives and bring security services together through the sport. The CRRA is set to collaborate with the Ghana Prisons Service on the next stages to kick off the club and organize regular rugby activities at the prison.
