Call on Australia stars’ IPL 2027 participation after BGT in India, says head coach

Australia head coach Andrew McDonald has indicated that the team will discuss and decide on whether some of their star players can participate in the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) following a demanding schedule of 20 Tests and 14 white-ball matches across India, World Cup and England. This assessment will be made at the conclusion of their five-Test tour of India, which is expected to precede the T20 league.

McDonald stated that the IPL is considered part of the team's management plan for several players, including Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Cameron Green and Travis Head, and Josh Inglis, who plays for Lucknow Super Giants. The team aims to preserve the fitness of their fast bowlers during this rigorous Test cricket run.

McDonald emphasized that the decision to participate in the IPL will be made based on each player's workload and form, with the starting point being that all options are on the table.
