Bersatu leader calls for RoS action over PN crisis

KUALA LUMPUR: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has been urged to intervene immediately to resolve the ongoing crisis within Perikatan Nasional (PN), according to Bersatu information chief Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz. Aziz claimed that the People's Alliance (Pas) has been manipulating PN to serve its own political interests, including making unilateral decisions that infringe on the rights of other component parties and potentially violate the PN Constitution.

The main concern is preventing Pas from using PN to make arbitrary decisions that deny any component party their rights or breach the coalition's constitution. Faisal stated that PN should be managed fairly, transparently, and with integrity, adhering to the coalition's constitution. He expressed concern that decisions by the PN Supreme Council should be made through proper meetings, not through interference by Pas President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who he said has no authority or veto power to determine Bersatu's status within PN.

Bersatu Secretary-General Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali denied the claim that Bersatu had automatically ceased to be a PN member following Pas' intention to form a new coalition. According to Azmin, the PN Constitution does not provide for the automatic termination of a component party's membership, and Pas President Hadi neither has the authority nor the power to determine Bersatu's status within PN.

Perak PN Chairman Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar reiterated that Bersatu remains a member of the coalition for the time being.
