Arizona Cardinals 53-man roster projections after preseason opener

The Arizona Cardinals played their first preseason game of the year and have revealed a projected 53-man roster. Quarterbacks Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew and Carson Beck are confirmed starters, as expected. On the running back position, Tyler Allgeier, Jeremiyah Love, James Conner and Bam Knight are locks. Wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne and Devin Duvernay are considered for the fourth spot.

The tight end position may see a change with Elijah Higgins seemingly being the final man. In the offensive line, Paris Johnson, Isaac Seumalo, Hjalte Froholdt and Isaiah Adams are the projected starters. However, if a fourth offensive lineman is added, Teagan Quitoriano could be the choice.

On the defensive side, nose tackles Darius Robinson and Walter Nolen are set in stone. With Kaleb Proctor's season-ending injury, outside linebackers Josh Sweat and Zaven Collins become the starters for first and second downs. Jordan Browning, BJ Ojulari, Mack Wilson, Cody Simon, Jack Gibbens and Karson Sharar are also confirmed starters. Sharar has the edge over the other three to make the team.

Inside linebacker position might have five players on the roster, with Sharar having the advantage over Owen Pappoe. Cornerback Max Melton and Elijah Jones are also confirmed starters. If Will Johnson does not make it to Week 1, Kalen King might take a spot as the backup nickel to Murphy-Bunting.

Safety position seems easier to decide with Budda Baker and Andrew Wingard locked in. Joey Blount's injury eases the decision-making process. Isaiah Oliver will compete for a roster spot. Lastly, for the specialists, Blake Gillikin, K Chad Ryland and Casey Kreiter are confirmed starters.
