AOC is keeping two very big options open for 2028

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) hinted on Sunday at two possible paths for her political future: a 2028 presidential bid or a challenge to New York's Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer. Her remarks came during an interview on ABC's "This Week" following a New Hampshire poll indicating her strong lead among prospective Democratic candidates.

When asked directly about a presidential run, Ocasio-Cortez emphasized her current focus on winning the midterm elections and stated she had not ruled out any possibilities, expressing humility towards the support she's received. She also acknowledged the potential for Senate opposition from Schumer, saying, "Anything is possible at this juncture."

The congresswoman attributed the rise of insurgent Democratic victories to a generational shift, noting that millennials are now decisive voters. She highlighted the generational change within the party, emphasizing that "we're grown adults with mortgages and kids," taking the reins in politics. Ocasio-Cortez also appeared more pragmatic than her 2018 challenger, suggesting she would focus on targeting open seats and unseating incumbents in New York's state legislature.

She distanced herself from some of the extreme positions held during the 2020 cycle, citing a more tempered approach. Despite her focus on the midterms, speculation surrounding a potential 2028 run persists.
