Algeria, Morocco qualify for 2027 Women’s World Cup

Algeria and Morocco have been selected to participate in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. This achievement comes after the two African countries secured victories in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals. Algeria triumphed over Côte d’Ivoire with a scoreline of 2-1, while Morocco defeated South Africa by the same margin.

Both teams reached the WAFCON semi-finals and thus qualified automatically. The 2027 World Cup will see a total of five African nations in attendance, following the remaining quarter-finals. Other African nations, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Malawi, and Ghana, will vie for the final spots through the FIFA Play-Off Tournament. Côte d’Ivoire and South Africa are still in contention for the World Cup spot, with the winners of the play-off match on August 13, along with one of the other losing quarter-finalists, earning the final place at the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.
