After Leen’s and S.A.J. Bistronomy, chef Ameer Alzalek ventures into ‘shawarma’ with Bab Shawarma and Grill in TTDI

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — Chef Ameer Alzalek, known for his restaurants Leen's and S.A.J. Bistronomy, has opened a new shawarma-focused eatery called Bab Shawarma and Grill in TTDI. The fast-food style restaurant, with its bright orange colour palette, offers customers a more casual dining experience compared to its predecessors. Upon visiting Bab Shawarma and Grill, reviewer Ethan Lau sampled two wraps - the Chicken Shawarma Wrap and the Beef Shawarma Wrap.

While the Chicken Shawarma Wrap was dry and underwhelming, the Beef Shawarma Wrap was a notable success, featuring tahini, onions, tomatoes, and parsley. However, the standout dish was the Shawarma Steak Fries, a guilty pleasure that combines crispy fries, beef shawarma meat, tahini mayo, lemon garlic butter, and parmesan cheese.

Bab Shawarma and Grill seems content in offering a straightforward shawarma and fries menu, rather than attempting to replicate the success of Leen's or S.A.J. Bistronomy.
